Unattended bag causes disruptions at Miami International Airport

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A “potential security threat” is causing disruptions Monday morning at Miami International Airport, airport officials confirmed in a post on social media.

According to officials, portions of the North and Central terminals before the security checkpoints have been evacuated and the incident is also impacting vehicular traffic entering the airport, causing delays on both the arrivals and departures levels.

Airport officials said they are working with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office to resolve the situation.

Deputies confirmed that K-9 units responded to the area after receiving a report about an unattended bag.

“The preliminary information revealed that area Terminals 11-19 were evacuated out of precaution and made safe until MDSO bomb squad responds,” a MDSO spokesperson said in an email to Local 10 News.

No other details were immediately released.
