Wildfire burns 600 acres in western Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A wildfire was active on Tuesday after burning 600 acres in western Miami-Dade County, according to the Florida Forest Service.

The fire, which started on Monday afternoon, was 30% contained as the Florida Forest Service’s Everglades unit continued working.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel also assisted. There was an evacuation at a commercial property near the Metro West Detention Center at 13850 NW 41st St.

An air-quality alert was in effect in areas of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
