Student caught with box cutter at Broward school: BCPS

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A student reported a classmate had a weapon on Tuesday at Silver Lakes Middle School in North Lauderdale, according to Broward County Public Schools.

The school resource officer reported finding a student with a box cutter at the school at 7600 Tam Oshanter Boulevard, according to a spokesperson for BCPS.

During the investigation, the school was on the “secure status” safety protocol with students locked in their classrooms, and later returned to normal operations, according to the BCPS spokesperson.
