Victims identified following double homicide in rural Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office on Monday released the identities of a man and a woman who they said were killed last week in southwest Miami-Dade.

The victims were identified as Esther Liontos, 58, and Roger Arredondo Gonzalez, 61.

Authorities have not disclosed how the two were killed, but confirmed that one person was detained for questioning.

According to MDSO, deputies were called to a home, located in the 26100 block of Southwest 209th Avenue, shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a report about an unconscious woman.

When deputies arrived, they found Liontos lying on the ground outside the home, authorities said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel.

Deputies said they found Arredondo Gonzalez lying on the ground nearby. He too was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that a man was detained for questioning to determine whether he had any involvement in the homicide.

Detectives have not disclosed what that man said to them, but no arrests have been made at this time.
