Authorities said Jamarcus Malcolm Brooks was arrested Thursday by the North Miami Police Department. Jail records show he is facing one count each of home invasion robbery with a firearm and possession of cocaine with intent to sell.

According to Brooks’ arrest report, the robbery occurred around 3:30 a.m. Thursday at an apartment in the 800 block of Northeast 121st Street.

Police said the victim, who is “paralyzed from the waist down and requires the assistance of a motorized scooter to get around,” was inside the apartment with another person when the armed robbery began.

According to the report, as the second person was leaving the apartment, an armed man rushed through the open door, pointed a black handgun and demanded, “Give me the money and the weed or I shoot you and that white b—-.”

The second victim ran from the apartment and called 911, investigators said.

The report states the gunman then pushed the victim from his motorized scooter, tied his hands behind his back with a white USB charging cable and dragged him into a bedroom before ransacking the room.

Police said the robber stole a black bank bag containing about $2,000 before fleeing through the rear door as officers arrived.

Investigators said officers found a gray Kia K4 partially blocking the roadway outside the apartment. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside.

According to the report, the car’s owner told detectives he had loaned it to Brooks for what Brooks described as an “emergency.”

Police said after receiving permission to search the vehicle, they found a satchel containing narcotics and a wallet with Brooks’ identification, including credit cards and a Social Security card.

Police later located Brooks at his probation office in Miami Gardens and took him into custody without incident, according to the report.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Brooks admitted he was involved in a plan to rob the victim, the report states.

Investigators said Brooks told detectives the victim was believed to have large amounts of cash and marijuana and that, because he was paralyzed, he would have been an “easy lick,” a term Brooks described as meaning an easy robbery.

According to the report, Brooks claimed he drove another man, identified only by the nickname “Greedy,” who carried out the robbery.

Brooks also admitted using the Kia left at the scene and said the narcotics and satchel found inside the vehicle belonged to him, police said.

As of Saturday morning, Brooks was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”

Police did not reveal Greedy’s age or identity in the report.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
