Publix rolls out major change to express checkout lanes

MIAMI — Publix is making a change to its checkout process, removing the 10-item limit from its express lanes.

The supermarket chain says the change is intended to improve the shopping experience and reduce wait times for customers.

The policy change was first tested at Publix stores in Miami and is now being rolled out companywide.

Self-checkout lanes will remain an option for shoppers making smaller purchases who want a quicker checkout experience.

The change means customers with more than 10 items will no longer be restricted from using the store’s express lanes, giving shoppers another option when checking out.
