Devlin praised “the openness and airiness” of the Hollywood Police Department’s new 100,000-square-foot headquarters.
Devlin said the design of the first floor “invites collaboration, cooperation, and communication” because of its accessibility.
“You can access internal affairs, property records through separate entrances, and the records department right through the lobby,” Devlin said.
The glassy building at 401 South Park Road cost the city’s taxpayers more than $80 million.
The design includes rooms named after fallen officers, including the roll call room named after Officer Yandy Chirino, who died on Oct. 17, 2021, after a car burglary suspect shot him.

For police officers’ training, the new 50-yard firing range has a dynamic targeting system. There is also a fitness center and a defense tactics room.
The real-time intelligence center has screens with live feeds from more than 40 surveillance cameras, a live view of police officers’ locations, and the capability to get drones up in the sky to relay information to the police officers on the ground, police said.
“It has more room for growth and technology,” said Deanna Bettineschi, the department’s public information manager. “It’s something we have been very excited about for so long.”
City officials haven’t announced their plans for the old police headquarters. They are getting ready for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new one at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
