Motorcyclist killed in crash at Bird and Red roads

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A motorcyclist was killed Monday in a crash at Bird and Red roads, just outside of Coral Gables, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. when the driver of a Hyundai Sonata going westbound on Southwest 40th Street, also known as Bird Road, turned onto 57th Avenue, also known as Red Road, in front of the biker, causing him to T-bone the sedan and fall from his Kawasaki.

Lt. Alex Camacho, an FHP spokesperson, said the motorcyclist died at the scene.

Authorities have not publicly identified the motorcyclist, nor have they said whether the Hyundai driver will be cited or charged.
