Investigation into fatal Pompano Beach hit-and-run remains open, reward being offered

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A hit-and-run crash that occurred last month in Pompano Beach remains an active investigation.

According to homicide detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 1700 block of northwest 16th Avenue on Sunday, Aug. 23 around 4:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a person lying on the side of the road near a bicycle.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue crews also responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

He has since been identified as Jacob Robinson.

Detectives said the bicycle appeared to have been hit by a car, and that an autopsy revealed Robinson sustained injuries consistent with being hit by a car.

Authorities are asking anyone who has information on the case to call BSO at 954-321-4844 or to contact Broward Crime Stopers at 954-493-TIPS to remain anonymous.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for any tips through Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest.
