Boca Raton woman blows out 105 candles surrounded by loved ones

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Katherine “Kay” Approbato celebrated a remarkable milestone, surrounded by family and friends as she marked her 105th birthday in Boca Raton.

Approbato celebrated with loved ones at 60 Vines Restaurant last Saturday, where she blew out her birthday candles and took part in a celebration honoring more than a century of life.

Born in Brooklyn in 1921, Approbato moved to Boca Raton in 1980. She spent years working at Manufacturers Hanover Bank in New York and was married to her late husband, Albert, for 50 years.

Approbato has lived at Edgewater in Boca Raton for the past 15 years. Her family says they wanted to make sure her 105th birthday was a celebration she would never forget.

With family and friends gathered around her, Kay marked the milestone with a smile — celebrating 105 years of memories, family and life.
