MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A body in a canal underneath a bridge prompted a death investigation on Saturday afternoon in northeastern Miami-Dade County.

The Miami Gardens Police Department, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the Miami Gardens-Ives Estates area.
Detective Angel Rodriguez said the body of the “unknown male” was in the area of Northeast Second Avenue and 199 Street.

“The MDSO Homicide Bureau has assumed the investigation,” Rodriguez said. “The manner and cause of death will be determined by the autopsy results.”
