According to the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Humberto Exposito was making a delivery to Sedano’s supermarket in the 10300 block of Pines Boulevard Wednesday morning when he allegedly threw the dog several feet from the back of a box truck.
Police said Exposito returned to the truck after completing the delivery while the dog remained on the ground and made no effort to help it.
They said the German shepherd was left without food, water, shelter or protection.

The dog is now in the care of Broward County Animal Care, where it is receiving medical evaluation and treatment, according to investigators.
Police said the dog is malnourished, has matted hair and appears to have advanced hip dysplasia.
Detectives later located Exposito, who they say was arrested and faces one count each of aggravated animal cruelty, abandonment of an animal and confinement of an animal without sufficient air exchange.
