MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was hurt after someone launched a “live firework” at him following a street takeover near Miami Lakes overnight Sunday, an agency spokesperson said.

According to MDSO, the incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. near Northwest 77th Court and 169th Street.
An MDSO spokesperson said while trying to take one suspect into custody, another “launched a live firework directly at the deputy,” causing a “minor burn” to his hand.

Both suspects then took off in “unknown vehicles.”
“The investigation remains active,” an MDSO news release states. “Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identities of the individuals involved is urged to contact the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.”
Officials said those with information can also call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
