MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Argentine fans rushed to celebrate on Tuesday afternoon in Miami Beach after advancing to the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinals.

“Los Albicelestes” in their sky blue and white jerseys met along Collins Avenue in the North Beach neighborhood, known as “Little Buenos Aires.”
At Manolo, a restaurant on 73rd Street, and at the nearby Miami Beach Bandshell Fan Fest, fans hugged after the twists and turns of a tough match.
Lionel Messi was in tears after Argentina won 3-2 against Egypt, during a tense Round of 16 match in Atlanta.
Yasser Ibrahim and Mustafa Zico scored Egypt’s first two goals. For a few minutes, Argentine fans felt the weight of a devastating 3-0.
Zico scored again, but the video assistant referee disallowed the goal because Egypt’s Marwan Attia had stepped on Argentina’s Lisandro Martínez’s foot.
Argentina’s Cristian Romero scored with a header before Messi scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute. It was Messi’s 8th FIFA World Cup 2026 goal; it was the 21st of his World Cup career.

Enzo Fernández secured Argentina’s victory with the third goal.
Argentina’s next opponent is Switzerland at 9 p.m. on July 11.
The Round of 16‘s eight single-elimination knockout matches started on Saturday.
Colombia, Egypt, the U.S., Portugal, Canada, Paraguay, Mexico, and Brazil were eliminated.

4 quarterfinal matches
Morocco vs France at 4 p.m. on July 9.
Belgium vs. Spain at 3 p.m. on July 10.
Norway vs. England at 5 p.m. on July 11.
Switzerland vs. Argentina at 9 p.m. on July 11.
The tournament, held every four years, started with 48 teams on June 11.
After matches within 12 groups of four, 16 teams were eliminated. The Round of 32 matches eliminated the 16 others from June 28 to Friday.

July 18: The third-place play-off match is at 5 p.m. at the Miami Stadium, better known as the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Sunrise ride to stadium: The Amerant Bank Arena has free parking for FIFA World Cup ticket holders who ride Broward County’s free Express bus transportation to the Miami Stadium, also known as Hard Rock, in Miami Gardens.
July 19: The final match is at 3 p.m.
Miami Beach watch party: Doors open at 1 p.m. on July 19 at The Sandbowl, behind The Bandshell, at 7275 Collins Ave., for the 3 p.m. final.
