PLANTATION, Fla. — The high school spotlight was on American Heritage as the Patriots hosted East St. Louis in Plantation.

American Heritage led 6-0 in the second quarter when Tremaine Mullen spun across the goal line for a short touchdown run, making it 12-0.
In the third quarter, the Patriots added to their lead. Nieman Lawrence escaped pressure and threw it up for his 6-foot-5 receiver, Tray Proctor, who came down with the touchdown to make it 21-0.
But East St. Louis stormed back.
Reece Shanklin found Ronnie Gomiller down the sideline for a 42-yard touchdown, tying the game at 28-28.

That sent the game to overtime.
On American Heritage’s possession, Lawrence faked the defense with play action and found a wide-open Michael Stringer on the far end of the field. The Patriots took a 35-28 lead.
Jaytoin Thomas sealed it with an interception.
American Heritage won 35-28.
Palmetto rolls past Mater Academy
In Miami-Dade County, Palmetto faced Mater Academy at Tropical Park.
In the first quarter, Palmetto was backed up facing third-and-20 when Jamison Larsen aired it out to Kaden Howard.
Howard hauled it in and raced 80 yards for a touchdown, giving the Panthers the early lead.

Then it was Larsen again, this time slinging it to Jefftavious Lyons.
The Panthers rolled, taking a 27-0 lead.
