MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Surveillance video shows the theft of a security X-ray machine from a company in Miami-Dade’s Glenvar Heights neighborhood, according to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Danny Ernandez stole the $20,000 machine on Aug. 18 from Pemica, a security equipment company that he worked for at 7324 SW 48 St., according to a deputy’s arrest report.
Pemica’s surveillance cameras were “suspiciously disconnected,” but the cameras at neighboring businesses recorded video of the theft, according to the deputies’ report.
Ernandez, 39, was an employee of Pemica, according to deputies. After the company terminated him, he returned the stolen machine and parts and met with detectives on Tuesday at the MDSO Kendall Station, according to the report.
“Ernandez confirmed that he violated the business’s policies and procedures and took the machine without proper approval from management,” a deputy wrote, according to the report.

Deputies arrested Ernandez at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday at the station at 7707 SW 117 Ave., according to the report.
Miami-Dade corrections booked Ernandez shortly before 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records.
Ernandez faced a charge of third-degree felony grand theft. He appeared in court on Wednesday and corrections released him on a $2,500 bond, according to court records.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Carmen Cabarga was set to preside over the case.
