HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — One half of a young couple accused by Hollywood police of killing their baby daughter through neglect is back in South Florida and briefly faced a judge on Monday morning.

Alejandro Leon was booked into the Broward Main Jail on Sunday. Authorities in Rockingham, North Carolina arrested him, along with Samantha Feliz, on Wednesday after a judge signed an arrest warrant earlier this month.
Leon, 21, and Feliz, 20, are suspected of allowing their baby daughter, Angelina, to die through neglect not long after she was born, and then claiming the little girl was a “hoax” who never existed.
Police said they still have not found Angelina’s body, but compiled circumstantial evidence, including a photo of the baby “showing no signs of life“ and blood found on baby clothing and towels in a Hollywood storage unit, that led them to conclude that she is dead.

During Monday’s court appearance, a Broward judge reset Leon’s hearing to Tuesday after his attorney asked for time to review evidence.
Meanwhile, records show that Feliz remains behind bars in North Carolina, awaiting extradition to South Florida.
Records from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in the Tar Heel State show that she has a court appearance there scheduled for Thursday.
