1 dead after fire engulfs third-floor apartment in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — One person was found dead Monday morning after a fire engulfed a third-floor apartment in northwest Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the apartment fire near Northwest 14th Avenue and Northwest 103rd Street at approximately 6:30 a.m.

According to MDSO, deputies arrived to find the third-floor apartment fully engulfed in flames.

Deputies immediately began evacuating residents from both the east and west sides of the building.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews also responded and extinguished the fire.

Authorities said firefighters later found a person dead inside the apartment. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Detectives with the MDSO Homicide Bureau responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
