Fatal crash reminds Deerfield Beach residents of area’s bad drivers

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Workers replaced a stop sign on Wednesday that was damaged during a fatal crash in Deerfield Beach.

One person died and two were injured on Tuesday at Northeast Third Avenue and 44 Street.

Neighbors said bad drivers are usually speeding there and don’t obey the four-point stop.

A red Nissan Rogue was crushed. A white Land Rover flipped upside down. A Nissan van was damaged, and its engine was on the side of the road.

The crash damaged a house’s wooden fence near a pool where four girls were playing. Their grandfather said the girls weren’t injured.

Surveillance video shows fire rescue personnel at work for hours after the crash.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation on Wednesday afternoon, and authorities had yet to identify the person who died.
