MIAMI — American Airlines on Tuesday celebrated the launch of its new nonstop service between Miami (MIA) and Maracaibo, Venezuela (MAR).

The new daily route becomes the airline’s second connection between the U.S. and Venezuela and comes at a critical time, as Venezuela continues to recover from recent earthquakes and flights to and from Caracas (CCS) remain temporarily suspended.
According to airport officials, the flight will be operated by Envoy Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines, using an Embraer E-175 aircraft.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava is expected to attend the event, along with Vice President of MIA Operations Juan Carlos Liscano and Miami International Airport Director and CEO Ralph Cutie for remarks ahead of the inaugural departure.
